Presentation Summary

Universities are a hub of innovation and spinning out a company based on your research is the beginning of an entirely new journey. This seminar will be a discussion of best practices for:

  • Starting a company with your peers 
  • Splitting up the early equity pie 
  • Bringing on your first investment dollars

Event open to Stanford University faculty, postdocs, students, and staff. Space is limited, registration is required. A zoom link will be sent to all Stanford registrants prior to the event.

Manny Stockman - Partner, Osage University Partners (OUP)

About the speaker

Manny joined Osage University Partners in 2015 and is responsible for leading and overseeing OUP’s deep tech investment strategy. The fund invests exclusively in startups that have spun out of university research. Manny has invested in core technology areas across software, computing, and hardware. He has held Director or Observer roles at Quintessent, NuMat, SiFive and IonQ.Prior to joining Osage, Manny was at Lockheed Martin ATL and Skunkworks. As an engineer executing on the transition of early-stage technologies into the defense industry, he often joined university researchers with his industry team to develop unique technology solutions across the materials, applied physics and photonics domains.Manny holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University in Aerospace Engineering and Applied Physics and a B.S.E in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.
